Sambiya River Lodge has 22 rooms spread across 22 stone cottages on a gently sloping hill that leads down to the small Sambiya River and is surrounded by beautiful open woodland. Each room has a modest bathroom with basic furnishings and hot and cold running water. The main building’s open-sided form features a large dining area and bar next to a small swimming pool.

Sambiya River Lodge

Sambiya River Lodge’s excellent position makes it the ideal starting point for exploring Murchison Falls National Park. You are in a great location to trek to the top of the falls or enjoy a leisurely river ride down the Nile, as it is only 20 minutes away. If you’re in the mood for something a little different, you may travel about 45 minutes to the nearby Budongo Forest Reserve and go trekking to view the chimpanzees. Nile perch fishing is another popular sport among the people who stay here.

It is strongly suggested to go on early morning game drives with their local UWA guide, who is an excellent storyteller and extremely knowledgeable about the park’s fauna.

In keeping with their eco-friendly philosophy, Sambiya River Lodge features a restaurant and bar that serves a fusion of regional and international cuisine, with a focus on local food. The thatched veranda and swimming pool are excellent places to cool down in the midday sun, and at night, you can share stories of your day’s exploits over the communal campfire while sipping cold drinks in true safari fashion.

Twenty separate thatched-roof bandas with private bathrooms and verandas are ideal for those seeking a bit more luxury and seclusion while in Uganda. On the other hand, 12 less expensive bandas are available for those on a tight budget; 9 of them have private bathrooms, while 3 have communal amenities.

This open-frontend lodge is the ideal place to begin any trip because it’s conveniently located just 20 minutes from the top of Murchison Falls and offers breathtaking views of the Sambiya River, leopard country, and the surrounding green hills.

With a view of the Sambiya River, guests can get a drink from the river while relaxing on the terrace and watching animals. While you have dinner, you can see the park’s nocturnal animals since floodlights illuminate the river at night.

Activities at Sambiya Lodge include fishing for Nile perch, hiking to the falls, game drives, nature walks, and monitoring chimpanzees in the neighbouring Budongo Forest Reserve. These have proven to be popular with former guests. This lodge is well-known for its superb cuisine, friendly personnel, and flawless customer service, so if you want to truly experience Ugandan hospitality, come stay here. Sambiya places a high value on protecting the environment by using solar energy, locally sourced materials, and waste minimisation.
