Three of the Virunga Volcanoes itself provide a magnificent background for Mount Gahinga, an elite adventure lodge in Uganda, which is tucked away in the foothills of the volcano range. Its alluring rustic appeal evokes a calming, historical ambience.

There are eight guest bandas at Mount Gahinga Lodge, each with a papyrus roof and stone walls. Each has a Virunga volcano as its namesake. Four bandas have double beds, two have twin beds, and two are deluxe rooms. A large storage chest, lights, and a warm stone fireplace are among the features of the room. The luxurious en suite bathroom features a shower with hot and cold running water, two sinks, and a flush toilet. Each banda also has a charming private veranda, and personal butler service is available to all visitors.

There are tidy pathways connecting the bandas to the main lodge on the site. Both stone and thatch are used to construct this structure. A large central fireplace, well-cushioned wicker sofas and armchairs, an elongated table flanked by upright chairs for community meals, and an open-plan lounge and dining room are all present inside. This area opens up into a cosy sunroom with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Visitors can also take in the view from the terrace of Mount Gahinga. The entire resort has Wi-Fi, albeit it’s not always dependable. There is a wonderful little gift shop in a different building that is ideal for buying mementos.

The rock details used in the construction of Mount Gahinga Lodge give it a beautiful aspect. This mid-range safari holiday rental, close to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park main entrance, is surrounded by lush gardens with exquisite landscaping and offers stunning views. Its comfortable lounge, with its many windows and fireplace, is a great spot to spend time. The lodge’s rustic charm is enhanced by wooden rafters supporting the thatched roof and by hand-crafted curios, hardwood floors, area rugs, and vibrantly patterned pillows that enliven the various areas. Settle back on the open verandah and take in the views of Mgahinga Park’s volcanic cones. Additionally, the lodge features a spa where visitors can have massages.
