Visit the hotel again for lunch and breakfast. After lunch, take a boat safari from the “Devil’s Cauldron” to the base of the falls, halting only tens of meters upstream in the serene Victoria Nile. En route, marvel at the toothsome crocodiles and hippos. You may also observe elephants, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, and crocodiles along this 17-kilometer length.
This region is home to a wide variety of bird species, such as the rare shoebill stork, hornbill, cormorant, kingfisher, Egyptian geese, Goliath heron, and pelican bee-eater. There, you get off the boat and start the arduous one-hour climb to the top of the falls. Discover the location of the world’s longest river’s abrupt eruption, which occurs through a tiny fissure in the Rift Valley escarpment and plunges into a frothy pool 43 meters below. Day 4: Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking – Bigodi Walk
After an early breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre, the starting point for tourist activities, and begin tracking chimpanzees in the jungle. There is a 90% chance of seeing the chimps, but there is no assurance. One of Uganda’s most exquisite and breathtaking forest is Kibale Forest National Park. Our closest surviving cousins, the endangered Chimpanzee, the endangered Red Colobus monkey, and the uncommon L’Hoest’s monkey, all call it home. With 13 species of primates, including the Black and White Colobus, Blue Monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Red-tailed Monkey, Bush baby, and Pottos, the forest also has one of Africa’s highest densities and diversity of primates.
After lunch, take a guided stroll through the marsh to see a range of plants and animals at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. View a variety of birds, butterflies, and insects. Investigate the crater region around Ndali Lodge. You can also stop at any tea plantation along the road if you’d like. Return to your accommodation for the night after dinner. Visit the “top of the world” and the natural bridge while on a nighttime tour of the crater area. On a clear day, the snow crown of the Rwenzori will be visible.
Accommodation: Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge, Primate Lodge Kibale.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After breakfast, take a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will spend much of the journey taking in the mystical Rwenzori Mountain range. Check into your accommodation while you wait for lunch. After lunch, go on a launch sail across the Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes Edward and George. The boat is an excellent way to see hippo, buffalo, kob, and the occasional Nile crocodile, which did not reside in this area until recently, in addition to the fantastic bird watching on the lake bank. Many people consider the launch cruise to be the high point of their entire safari in Africa.
Accommodation: Mweya Safari, Katara Lodge, Kyambura Gorge Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 6: Full Day in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Get up early, pack a lunch, and go on a morning game drive to catch up with the predators and early risers returning to their hiding spots. While grazing, you may come across spotted hyenas, hippos, elephants, lions, water bucks, bush bucks, stripped jackals, comical warthogs, and the elusive leopard. Proceed to the Maramagambo forest. You have a lot of surprises ahead of you. For example, in the crevices of the bat cave floor, pythons are often observed consuming the bats. Near the cave are Hunter’s Cave and a picturesque old Blue Lake. You may see bat hawks, brown-eared woodpeckers, and other forest birds in addition to other primates.
Accommodation: Mweya Safari, Katara Lodge, Kyambura Gorge Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Enjoy your breakfast while recalling the previous day in preparation for a guided chimpanzee/primate walk via Kyambura Gorge to search for habituated chimps. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park after your primate trek. If time permits, make a visit at Igongo Cultural Village to learn about and discover the Bahima and Ankole cultures. The Tanzanian Plains are extended into this park. In addition to the uncommon shoebill, crested crane, pelicans, fish eagle, heron, and numerous water birds, Lake Mburo National Park is well-known for its zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi, and elands.
Accommodation: Mihingo Safari Lodge, Mantana Tented Camp, Rwakobo Safari Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 8: Return to Kampala – Departure.
After an early breakfast, enjoy a fantastic mid-morning boat ride among the hippos, which includes a game drive along the way, before heading back to Kampala. If you’re lucky, you might see large herds of buffalo, zebras, impala, eland, warthogs, and other savannah animals. This is one of the greatest locations for birdwatchers to see African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike, and other species. Before continuing your journey back to Entebbe to catch your flight home, make a stop at the Equator crossing and have lunch along the way.
