Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

You will be given a tour of Kigali, the newest and liveliest capital city, by your guide. The new prosperity contains a number of vibrant markets and features the mountain terrain famed in Rwanda. The memorial sites and centres serve as dignified spaces of commemoration for loved ones lost for survivors and others whose family were killed in Rwanda’s genocide in 1994. It serves as a venue for introspection and education for the larger community, both domestically and abroad.

We next make our way to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where we have an amazing and engaging experience while discovering everything there is to know about Rwandan customs, music, and dance. You can also sample local wines and foods, as well as take part in local events. You will be spending more time here taking part in the Gitaramo, a custom that involves singing, dancing, and story-telling. The Volcanoes National Park, also known as Parc National des Volcans, is called for the volcanic environment that ranges in altitude from 2,400 meters to 4,507 meters. Most renowned to the outside world for being the site of American primatologist Dian Fossey’s nearly two decades-long, ground breaking research on the behaviour of mountain gorillas.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience.

After breakfast, head to the ORTPN offices for a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure in the bush. Exhilarating hiking in the elegant foothills of the Virungas offers breathtaking vistas in every direction. The trail abruptly enters the national park, drawing hikers into the unusual intimacy of the rainforest, alive with the songs of vibrant birds and the chattering of the rare golden monkey, and beset by the spoor of the elusive groups of buffalo and elephant that reside in the mountains. Marvelous peaks may be seen through openings in the forest canopy; they are among the highest in Africa and are very accessible, suggesting an ascent. Gorilla Trekking is fairly tough but a worthwhile on encounter of these gentle giants. Your excitement upon encountering these primates will dispel your complexity of the arduous hike.
