5 Days Rwanda Primate Tracking Safari

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

When you arrive in Kigali, you will be greeted by our knowledgeable tour guide, who will take you on a tour of the city and its surroundings. Take a two to three hour leisurely drive around the park in the afternoon to see the stunning, gorgeous volcanic mountain scenery.

Accommodation: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Gisakura Guest House.

Meals: (Dinner).

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking – Canopy Walk Experience.

You will begin the chimpanzee trekking experience by driving to the forest’s edge at 5:30 a.m. after eating an early breakfast. You might spot various primates on the journey, including the Silver monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Rwenzori colobus, L’hoests monkey, and Owl-faced monkey. The greatest amount of time you can spend seeing the chimpanzees in their natural habitat is one hour. After the two to five hours of tracking, you will return to your lodge for lunch and relax after the exciting and exhausting activities of the day. You may choose to go on an optional guided forest walk.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

You will depart from Nyungwe Forest after breakfast and travel to Volcanoes National Park, where you will spend the night at your lodge in the late afternoon.

Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Da Vinci Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

After eating an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters to receive a briefing on the regulations that must be followed when walking with gorillas. A family of gorillas to track and guides to help you find the gorillas will be assigned to you. Ideally, tracking will take anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the monkeys’ daily movements through the jungle. After spending an hour with them, you will return to the headquarters or lodge to unwind after the encounter and take lots of pictures and notes.

Accommodation: Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Da Vinci Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5: Return to Kigali – Departure.

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali and you will continue to the airport to catch up with your outbound flight back home.
