4 Days Uganda Wildlife Flying Tour

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Fly to Kihihi Airstrip.

Fly from Kajjansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip. From there, drive to the Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Ishasha area. The southern portion of Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to the Ishasha Plains, which are renowned for their famous population of lions that climb trees. This trait is only known to be displayed by lions in a few places in Africa; it is thought to be a learnt behaviour exclusive to a few number of prides. This conduct has been theorised to be an attempt to avoid the warmest portion of the day in order to take use of the cool breezes coming from the trees and to avoid the insects that bite through the grass below.

As soon as you approach the savannah, you will go on a wildlife drive into the African wilderness in search of these magnificent cats. They will be hiding from the heat of the day in the shade beneath the fig trees’ enormous branches, which is where you will be hunting for them. After tracking the lions, if you have time, you can search the other game circuits for other savannah animals, including as buffalo, hyaenas, elephants, and Uganda kob.

Accommodation: Enjojo Lodge, Ishasha Jungle Lodge.

Meals: (Lunch, Dinner).

Day 2: Tree Climbing Lions – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Get up early to witness the sun rising and illuminating the Ishasha Plains savannah. Because of the early morning light and the fact that the wildlife is more active before the heat of the day sets in, dawn wildlife drives typically provide fantastic photo opportunity. Because there are fewer lodges in this area than in the rest of the park, you can enjoy a wildlife drive in relative solitude on these plains. You can look for hyena clans that are known to live in the Ishasha sector on the plains with the assistance of your driver guide. In case they are feeling timid, they can also have a decent opportunity of witnessing herds of elephants, Uganda kob, and the stunning topi, which is a common antelope in this area. Naturally, if you haven’t been able to locate the lions that scale trees, you now have another opportunity to locate these apex predators in the enormous fig trees that can be found across the plains.

Travel by car to Buhoma in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park from Ishasha Plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Meet your guide here to take a tour of the area surrounding Buhoma village. You’ll be stopping by a few of the neighbourhood handicraft stores, where you may get genuine mementos from your travels. Local artisans create a wide range of crafts, such as textiles, candles made of beeswax, and hand-carved wooden ornaments. When it comes to authenticity, your guide can help.

After that, you’ll continue walking to meet the Batwa people, who live nearby. They will perform traditional songs and dances for you, giving you a taste of their culture and a window into their past lives spent in the rainforest. You will meet other locals in Buhoma, such as a traditional healer who will tell you about their clandestine usage of medicinal plants. You will also discover how the bananas grown nearby are used to make a range of beverages, including beers, gins, and juices, all of which you are welcome to sample.

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest.

An up-close encounter with a family of gorillas at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda’s greatest natural wonder! Approximately 460 mountain gorillas, or over half of the remaining population in the wild, are protected at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, making it a critically important conservation site. While you hike, the rangers with you will be able to identify the native flora, fauna, and birds as well as the overall ecosystem of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will rise early this morning, and your driver/guide will accompany you to the entrance of the rainforest route.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will give you an instruction on tracking gorillas here, and they will also lead you into the deep jungle. Depending on where the gorillas slept the previous night, the trip can take anything from thirty minutes to seven hours. You will spend an hour with these amazing creatures once you locate them. You will agree, we think, that witnessing this exceptional family feed, mingle, tend to their young, patrol, and show off their skills is the most enchanted thing you will ever see in nature. Following your tracking, you’ll return to the rainforest’s edge and meet up with your driving guide.

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge, Mahogany Springs.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Fly Back to Entebbe – Departure.

You will be transferred to Kihihi Airstrip from Buhoma and there you will catch a flight back to Entebbe International Airport where you will then board your homebound fight.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch).
