9 Days Wildlife Safari Tour in Kenya

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Samburu National Reserve

Your journey of Northern Kenya begins in Nairobi or Nanyuki. You’ll cross the Equator and see some breathtaking scenery along the route. Our first stop is the opulent Elephant Bedroom Tented Camp in the Samburu National Reserve, where we will spend the night. Samburu is renowned for its diverse array of fauna, encompassing not only large felines but also indigenous bird species, the Northern Five mammal species, and rare bird species. These include the Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Grevy Zebra, and Reticulated Giraffe.

Meals: (Lunch, Dinner).

Day 2: Full Day Samburu – Visit to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary

Following an early bush breakfast, you will go to the Elephant Sanctuary at Reteti. Together with the people, this sanctuary was created with the goal of improving and protecting animals, especially the elephants from poaching. This area is home to numerous newborn elephants, some of which you will get to feed and play with. Take some time to unwind after lunch at the camp before embarking on a two-hour evening wildlife drive.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3 & 4: Transfer to Lake Turkana Loiyangalani Region

Leave Elephant Bedroom Camp after an early breakfast and head to Lake Turkana, often known as the Jade Sea. You’ll pass by some stunning mountain ranges and pause for a packed lunch on the route to the lake. You will pass Africa’s largest windfarm on your approach to the lake, and in the distance you will see Mt. Kulal, a biosphere reserve, and a number of Turkana, Samburu, and Rendille settlements. The greatest concentration of Nile crocodiles in the world can be found in Lake Turkana, the world’s largest desert and alkaline lake. We will spend the night at the settlement of Loiyangalani, which is along the lake. You will be staying at Malabo Resort for the next two days.

You will see the El Molo, the smallest tribe in Kenya, during your two nights in Loiyangalani. You will get a unique opportunity to see their town and unusual fishing boats. Other activities for the day include a boat ride on the lake, a visit to the desert museum, and a look at some prehistoric rock art. After this, you’ll have some free time to relax and have a swim in the Jade Sea. Finally, if the schools are open, you will visit some youngsters and give them some much-needed school supplies.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5 & 6: Tour Oldonyo Mara Ranges

On Day 5, you will now make your way to the magnificent Desert Rose Lodge perched on Mount Nyiru. Among all the Kenyan lodges, Desert Lodge has some of the most unusual architectural design. You will have the chance to stroll on some sand dunes while travelling and enjoy breath-taking vistas of two mountain ranges in Northern Kenya: Mt. Nyiru and the Ol Donyo Mara. After you get to the lodge, you will have some relaxation and take part in a cultural tour with the Samburu people.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 7 & 8: Sera Conservancy

You will go to Sera Conservancy after passing across the Ndoto Mountain ranges. The setting for the night’s accommodations is the opulent tented camp Saruni Rhino Lodge. One of the key things to do during your once-in-a-lifetime trip to Saruni Rhino will be tracking rhinos on foot.
