Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival you will be welcomed by our tour guide, who will take you for a city tour. You will visit Gisozi genocide memorial, craft shop and local market. After, the driver will drive you to Ruhengeri the home of gorillas.

Accommodation: Five Volcanoes Lodge, Virunga Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Visit Twin Lakes

After breakfast, you will visit Kinigi Park Headquarters to observe the gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking gorillas across hills and forests may be challenging, taxing, and stressful; at times, it can take up to eight hours. After you’ve found the gorillas, spend an hour with them taking photos and videos before returning to the park’s main office to collect your certificate. After lunch, explore the Twin Lakes of Rubondo and Bulera while admiring the surrounding landscape and a variety of species.

Accommodation: Five Volcanoes Lodge, Virunga Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking Experience

After breakfast in the morning, you will return to the same forest to see the golden monkeys, another endangered species. They are habituated, so the trip is not as exhausting as it would be for gorillas, and you can enjoy seeing them jump around the tops of the trees. After that, head back to your resort for lunch. The guide will take you to the Ibyi’wachu cultural village after lunch. This cultural ensemble performs songs, dance, and Kinyarwanda. Discover Rwandan culture here.

Accommodation: Five Volcanoes Lodge, Virunga Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

After breakfast drive to Nyungwe National park, the home of chimpanzees.

Accommodation: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe – Canopy Walk Experience.

After breakfast, you’ll go chimpanzee tracking. The Lhotse’s monkey and the grey-cheeked Mangabey are two other monkeys you may encounter. Like in most tropical jungles, you may encounter birds beside the road in addition to the beautiful birds. Enjoy the opportunity to observe chimpanzees in their natural environment. After lunch, take a canopy walk—the first of its type in East Africa. This is a great place to see the incredible richness of this rare woodland. Monkeys and other primates can be seen up close in the canopies, and you can take in the majority of the attractions from above.

Accommodation: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 6: Nature Walk-Cross Cyangugu/Rusizi Border to Congo.

One of the highlights of Nyungwe is the Waterfall Trail, which is an incredible climb. It takes three to five hours and begins at the park’s Gisakura side. Through a primeval-looking “Hollywood”-style rainforest with trees covered in vines and a humid, heavy atmosphere, the trail winds up and down steep hillsides. The main attraction is a secluded waterfall where you can swim shallowly. Following that, the guide will take you across the Congo’s Cyangungu/Rusizi border.

Accommodation: Begonias Hotel.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 7: Low Land Gorilla Tracking in Kahuzi Biega National Park

After an early breakfast, proceed to Kahuzi Biega National Park’s lowland gorilla monitoring location. It’s an incredible experience to go up against lowland gorillas, which are larger than their mountain counterparts. Compared to mountain gorillas, lowland gorillas live in larger families; once you see the incredible primates, you won’t regret your safari adventure! You return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay after tracking.

Accommodation: Begonias Hotel.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 8: Return to Kigali – Departure.

In the morning after Breakfast, The guide will drive you back to Kigali for your flight back home.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch).
