Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Kigali Airport

Our driver guide will meet you at the airport, walk you through the itinerary, and give you a tour of the city when you arrive. After seeing the Genocide Memorial Centre and hearing the stories that led to the 1994 atrocity, you will visit various artists and local markets before making your way back to the hotel for an evening stay.

Day 2: Helicopter Flight to Nyungwe – Canopy Walk Experience.

After a delicious breakfast, get up early and head to the airport to catch your flight to Nyungwe Forest National Park, where your driver guide will be waiting to greet you. Once you enter the park and check into the lodge, you will be treated to a breathtaking perspective of Rwanda, the country of a thousand hills. Later in the afternoon, you will embark on a canopy walk where you will get up close and personal with monkeys and birds while taking in the breathtaking views from above. You will spend the night and dinner back at the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe – Helicopter Flight to Volcanoes National Park.

After a delicious breakfast, get up early and head to the park information centre where you will meet your driver guide and receive instructions on how to go chimpanzee trekking. You will be assigned a family of chimpanzees to track, and a ranger guide who is familiar with chimpanzee movements will accompany you into the forest. After spending an hour with them, head back to the lodge for a change of clothes before boarding a plane to Volcanoes National Park, the mountain gorillas’ home. After checking into the lodge in the evening, you will eat dinner and spend the night there.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience – Visit Gorilla Guardians’ Village.

After a filling breakfast, get up early and head to the park headquarters for an orientation on the gorilla trekking experience. After being paired with a gorilla family for a journey, you will be dropped off in the middle of nowhere to look for gorillas. You will see birds while on the lookout for gorillas. After meeting the primates and spending an hour with them, you will return to the lodge to rest. Later, you will visit Gorilla Guardians’ Village, which showcases Rwandan culture and includes dance performances, storytelling from the past, and craft stores where you can purchase mementos. Finally, you will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge.

Day 5: Helicopter Flight to Akagera National Park

After a delicious breakfast in the morning, depart whenever it suits you and take a flight to the northeastern region of the nation. After checking in and enjoying a nice lunch, you will arrive at the park in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day lounging at the Akagera Lodge.

Day 6: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise

You’ll get up and head to the park in the morning to look for wildlife after a hearty meal. You will be amazed to see herds of Africa’s “big 5” (buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion, and leopard). Among the other species you will encounter are giraffes, impalas, zebras, and birds. You will return to the lodge after lunch and spend the afternoon taking a leisurely launch cruise on Lake Ihema. Photographs will be taken while you cruise past hippos, crocodiles, and an abundance of wildlife around the lake. You will head back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as dusk falls.

Day 7: Helicopter Flight to Kigali – Departure.

You will be taken to the runway to join a flight back to Kigali after checking out of the resort and enjoying a delicious breakfast at your pleasure. After arriving in Kigali, take lunch on the way, and then head to the airport to catch a flight home or to another location.
