Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park

Begin your 6 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda Safari by departing from Kigali, the country’s capital, and heading towards Akagera National Park. This will take place at your hotel in Kigali following breakfast. You will go in an opulent 4×4 safari vehicle for two or three hours. Arrive early to Akagera National Park, check into the luxurious safari lodge of your choice, have lunch and spend the afternoon on a boat excursion or launch around Lake Ihema. For two to three hours, this exhilarating water sport provides breathtaking vistas of hippos, snorting crocodiles, water fowl, and several other animals.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise.

After breakfast, go out of your safari lodge for an exciting early game drive through the northern portion of Akagera National Park. This is an amazing opportunity for you to witness a wide range of wildlife species, including birds, zebras, African bush elephants, buffalo, Masai giraffes, lions, and several antelope species, including roan, topis, and impalas. Our opulent 4×4 safari cars with pop-up windows are the perfect way to enjoy today’s game drive in Akagera National Park. They give you an excellent view of the range of savanna wildlife species. When you return to your safari lodge for lunch and leisure after spending two to three hours exploring the savanna in Akagera National Park, you’ll be ready for your afternoon boat excursion. You may see crocodiles, hippos, and aquatic birds lounging on the lakeshores during your afternoon boat ride or launch expedition on Lake Ihema.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, after breakfast, check out of your luxurious safari lodge. Drive northwest of Rwanda for around four hours to reach Volcanoes National Park from Akagera National Park.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.

On the fourth day, you should plan to have a cup of tea or coffee and then join the other guests for a briefing on the policies and regulations pertaining to gorilla trekking in Kinigi. Due to the nature of this primate expedition, it is recommended to pack energy foods and bottled water. You will be tasked with tracking a single habituated gorilla family in a group of eight trekkers. After an hour of magical encounter time, the actual search for mountain gorillas begins at 8:00 am and might take two to six hours. The length of the hike can vary depending on the kind of terrain, walking speed, and gorilla location. After an exciting one-hour experience with the mountain gorillas, return by foot to your luxurious gorilla safari lodge to relax, share stories, and spend the night.

Day 5: Visit Gorilla Guardians Village – Transfer to Lake Kivu.

After breakfast at the lodge, go on a cultural excursion to Gorilla Guardians Village. While you’re here, take in the best Intore dances and musical performances, as well as the unique traditions and way of life of the Rwandan people. After the fruitful talk with the villagers, drive to Gisenyi for a quick city tour and go to Lake Kivu.
