6 Days Exploring the Best of Uganda Wildlife

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Our company representative will meet you when you arrive and take you to Lake Mburo National Park via the small towns and villages in the greater Masaka area. You will stop at the equator for a photo opportunity before continuing on to the park for a hot lunch and an afternoon game drive through the well-spread game tracks, where you can expect to see a lot of zebras and antelopes like Uganda Kobs, oribi, topi, and elands, as well as spend the night there.

Accommodation: Mihingo Lodge, Rwakobo Rock, Eagles Nest.

Meals: (Lunch, Dinner).

Day 2: Bicycling – Afternoon Game Drive

We will wake up to a morning tour of the park, but this time we will be riding bicycles. We will enjoy the sunrise as it emerges through the angelic Rubango forest, which is a safe area because it is a free cat zone. After returning to the lodge for lunch and refreshments, we will take an afternoon ride to see the animals we might have missed the day before, such as elands, waterbucks, hippos, and warthogs. We will also have dinner and spend the night there.

Accommodation: Mihingo Lodge, Rwakobo Rock, Eagles Nest.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The gorillas are the largest primates in the world, and Bwindi is one of the few forests where you can see them. The IUCN has listed them as a critically endangered species on its red list, but because of ongoing conservation efforts, the number of mountain gorillas in the wild has increased. We will start with morning coffee before moving on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the gorilla experience.

Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge, Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

After breakfast, you will be taken to the park headquarters for a briefing before we enter the forest. A Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger will lead you through the forest in groups of eight per gorilla family, and you will enjoy the forest while they explain most of the creatures. If you are lucky, you might be able to see forest elephants, black and white colobus monkeys, and L’hoest monkeys. You will then return for dinner and spend the night there.

Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge, Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking – Afternoon Batwa Community

After an early morning tea or coffee, we will take you to Mgahinga National Park in the southwest of Uganda to see golden monkeys. The park rangers will give you a briefing before we travel through the forest to the Bamboo forested area of the park, where you can see these unusual primates. We will then return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon performance by the Batwa community dinner, where you will spend the night.

Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge, Lake Mulehe Gorilla Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Camp.
