Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Get up early in the morning and get ready by making sure your hiking boots, socks, trouser, bottled water, and long sleeve shirt or t-shirt are all ready. Following breakfast, you will meet the driver guide to be transported, based on where your lodging is located, to the trailhead where a park ranger will brief you on the rules for gorilla trekking. It’s expected that you will arrive at the park headquarters early enough for the 7:00 am briefing.

In a group of eight trekkers, you will be paired with a single gorilla family to track. Habinyanja, Rushegura, Rwingi, Nshongi, Bushaho, Bikingi, Kutu, Nkuringo, Christmas, Katwe, Kahungye, Busingye, Kyaguriro, Mubare, Bitukura, Mucunguzi, and Mukiza are the gorilla groups that may be trekked in Bwindi National Park.

The real walk, which will begin at 8:00 am through the thick undergrowth of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, will be led by park ranger guides, trackers and porters. Depending on your hiking pace, the type of habitat, and the location of these great apes, this will take you between two and six hours. You get to spend an hour with the gorillas, taking pictures and learning about their habits during that time. Following that, you’ll return to the lodge for some downtime before visiting the Batwa community in the evening to learn more about their culture.

Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge, Mahogany Spring Lodge, Buhoma Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi.

Depending on your degree of physical fitness, the gorillas’ habitat, and their position, it could take two to six hours. Once located, you can have a wonderful experience with them for an hour, during which you can take pictures and observe their behaviour. Return to the lodge afterwards to unwind, eat, and stay the night.

Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge, Mahogany Spring Lodge, Buhoma Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
