Our 4 Days Congo Primate Tracking Safari will take you through Rwanda’s breathtakingly beautiful hilly landscapes to the Virunga National Park, where you can track mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in the conservation area. Although the two activities may seem similar, they offer distinct experiences. Chimpanzees are social, intelligent, and fast feeders; mountain gorillas, like chimpanzees, live freely in the forest.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Goma
Our company representative will pick you up and drive you from Kigali to Goma, where you will cross the border and begin our amazing mountain gorilla trekking tour. The Virunga National Park is home to a variety of animal and plant species, and the national conservation area encompasses the Semuliki Valley as well as the greater East African rift valley region.
Accommodation: Mikeno Lodge.
Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking Experience.
After an early breakfast and transfer to the park centre, you will go chimpanzee tracking. Chimpanzees are closely related to humans, sharing up to 98% of human DNA. Tracking chimpanzees is much easier than tracking mountain gorillas; it takes 2-3 hours in groups of 6 and you are allowed to spend an hour with the species. After dinner and relaxation, you will return to the lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park.
You will be taken to the park centre to begin the day’s activities after breakfast. You will be put in groups that you will enter the forest in search of the gorillas with. You will need to hike for two or more hours, depending on how far the gorilla families have relocated. Once you’ve found these gentle giants, you have one hour to spend with them. Following this encounter, the trip back to the headquarters and the nightly stay at the camp begin.

Day 4: Return to Kigali – Departure.
After breakfast, you will travel to Kigali, stopping along the way to snap scenic photos and take in the breathtaking mountain scenery of the “land of a thousand hills.”
