Discover Rwanda’s big five animals on this 3 Days Akagera National Park Safari. More than 500 different species of birds call Akagera National Park home. Enquire Now The park’s picturesque features are dominated by the maze-like network of lakes and swamps that follow the Akagera River’s meandering course. The Akagera River is the most distant source of the Nile, and its archetypal African savannah landscape features open grasslands interspersed with tangled acacia woodland. Herds of buffalo and elephants come here from the surrounding forest to drink at the lakes, and tourists who are fortunate enough may spot a lion, a spotted hyena, or perhaps a leopard. In addition, a variety of animals including buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, impalas, hippos, and zebras will be abundant.
