Our 2 Days Rwanda Wildlife Safari Adventure brings you to Rwanda’s only national park, the Savannah, where you can have an incredible encounter with one of the continent’s big five species. Enquire Now The total size of Akagera National Park is 1112 square kilometres. The Belgian government founded it in 1934 with the goal of safeguarding both the ecosystem as a whole and the park’s inhabitants. The River Akagera, which runs through the park, inspired the park’s name. Lake Victoria, Lake Ihema, and several smaller bodies of water are fed by the river. Starting in Kigali city, this 2 Days Rwanda Wildlife Safari Adventure takes you to see a much-improved national park. Game drives and a boat ride around Lake Ihema are included in the safari. By the end of the two days, you should have seen a variety of mammals, including baboons, blue and vervet monkeys, black-tailed mongoose, buffalo, zebras, lions, hippos, rhinos, giraffes, leopards, elephants, spotted hyenas, warthogs, crocodiles, eland, topis, reedbuck, and impalas.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park.
Our tour guide will meet you at your place of residence in Kigali and transfer you to Akagera National Park after briefing you on the tour. Anticipate travelling through breathtaking scenery featuring breathtaking hills. The driver will transport you to the park offices for registration and hotel check-in once you reach the southern gate. After that, you and the park guide will go on the morning game drive. Zebras, Masai Giraffe, leopards, elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos, and antelopes are among the animals you might observe.
Since you have to return to your hotel for lunch in order to get ready for the afternoon boat trip, the game drive won’t last as long. It’s a great way to see birds, crocodiles, hippos, and land creatures drinking on the banks of Lake Ihema to take a boat trip. Fish eagles, cormorants, kingfishers, and Shoebill storks are a few bird species to keep an eye out for. After the two to three-hour boat ride, you’ll be returned to your hotel for some downtime, refreshments, and supper. Perhaps you would want to learn more about how much it costs to visit Akagera National Park.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive – Departure.
Get up early and eat breakfast. In order to pick up the park guide at the offices, the driver will pick you up early. Once more, the park guide will be helpful in identifying the ideal locations to spot the mammals. Day 2’s game drive will be far longer because there won’t be any activities in the afternoon and more time. It begins from the park’s southern gate and extends all the way to its northern boundary.
This may last for six hours, with the majority of that time being spent in the large swamps, along Lake Ihema, at the “hippo beach,” the Mutumba hills, and the Kilala plains. There is the highest concentration of wildlife in this specific area. This is your chance to see the animals if you missed them on the first day. With the assistance of the park guide, you can anticipate seeing lions, buffaloes, kobs, hippos, giraffes, elephants, and various antelopes.
The best place in Rwanda to go bird watching is Akagera National Park. Approximately 500 species can be found in the park, such as the lesser kestrel, papyrus gonoleks, and shoebill stork. We have no doubt that you will be enthralled by the park’s astounding splendour, which includes savannah grasslands, forests, bushes, and thickets of acacia. You will see most of the park’s animals and then head back to the hotel to finish your check-out. On the route back to Kigali, the driver could make a quick stop at the Rusumo waterfall and the Imigongo traditional handmade artists.
