Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport today, our safari consultant will greet you and take you to the storied Norfolk Hotel once you have completed the necessary customs and immigration procedures. Nairobi’s iconic The Norfolk dates back to Kenya’s colonial era. The hotel’s modern amenities, such as a heated pool, a newsstand, a hairdresser, and gift shops, complement its rich historical background. Other amenities include a fully furnished fitness centre with an aerobic room, sauna, and steam room. The Norfolk is located across from the National Theatre in Nairobi’s centre.

Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli National Park

Following breakfast, your safari driver/guide will pick you up at 8:00 AM and take you south to Amboseli National Park. Massive populations of elephants and other large wildlife are drawn to Amboseli by underground springs that receive water from Mount Kilimanjaro. The Amboseli Serena Lodge will be your place of residence for the following two nights. This distinctive lodge, designed to resemble a Maasai hamlet, is situated in the park’s greatest spot for observing wildlife. Watch animals descend to the marsh for a drink from the eating terrace’s comfort.

You’ll have time to unwind after arriving in time for lunch before leaving for an afternoon game drive in the park. Hopefully, the cloud cover will part to offer the breathtaking view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which alone is worth the trip to Kenya. Arrive back at the resort early in the evening so that dinner and sundown can be enjoyed.

Day 3: Full Day in Amboseli National Park.

Rise with the sun and head out for an early game drive, when the light is ideal for capturing images of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. Head back to the lodge for a morning meal. You could wish to watch some game from the terrace this afternoon and take a dip in the pool. You will get the chance to go on a nature walk with an expert Kenya tour naturalist in the late afternoon.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park – Transfer to Mount Kenya.

Following an early breakfast this morning, Serena personnel will bring you to the Amboseli airfield where you will board the planned flight to Nairobi, where your driver/guide (who departed for Nairobi the previous day) will meet you. You will pass through a patchwork of Kikuyu farms and some of Kenya’s most well-known coffee and tea estates as you head north into the middle Highlands. You will reach the Mount. In time for lunch, the Kenya Safari Club. You can stroll around the lovely gardens, go swimming, or simply relax in the crisp mountain air after lunch. Make sure you pay a visit to the animal orphanage next door, where you might be able to interact directly with a few of the infants living there.

Day 5: Mount Kenya – Transfer to Samburu National Park.

After breakfast, you and your driver/guide will travel north into the semi-arid desert region of Samburu country. The riverine forest and doum palms of the Samburu National Reserve give it an air of exoticism. The Uaso Nyiro sand river runs through the reserve and draws a wide range of wildlife, including many elephants, lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Even the most reserved birdwatcher will be captivated by the astounding diversity of species. You will also see animals that are unique to this region of the nation, such the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe, the Beisa Oryx, the dainty dik-dik, and the Grevy’s zebra. Take a game drive en route to your tented camp, which is located beside the Ewaso Nyiro River and is a favourite hangout for passing herds of elephants. The site is shaded by large acacia trees. Beautifully furnished tents with flush toilets and hot water showers are available at the camp. You’ll go on an afternoon game drive in this amazing game reserve after lunch and some downtime.

Day 6: Full Day Game Drive in Samburu National Park.

There will be game drives in the morning and afternoon, providing you with great chances to capture some amazing shots in the early and late morning light. Being one of the smaller parks, Samburu offers excellent possibilities of seeing all five of the big five as well as animals that are exclusive to the park, like the Grevy’s zebra. The Kenya tour circuit’s easiest park to see the “big 5” is this one. From your tent’s verandah, you can perform some fantastic birdwatching in between game drives.

Day 7: Samburu National Park – Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will go on a game drive to the airfield in preparation for your scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara. Kenya’s Maasai Mara wildlife park is located in the northern part of the large Serengeti plains. The reserve is home to hundreds of different species of birds, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, hippopotamuses, impala, gazelles, and the “big five”, elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino. You will be spending the following three nights at one of Mara’s luxurious tented camps, Mara Engai Lodge, where you can spend nights “in the bush” but still have all the comforts of home.

Situated atop the Olololo Escarpment and shielded by a thick forest canopy, the camp provides expansive vistas of the Mara. With the world’s largest grassland system remaining under the Maasai tribe’s protection, each opulent tent offers expansive vistas of the surrounding landscape. The wonders of the Mara are revealed during thrilling game drives. You will have some time to unwind and swim in the pool after checking in and having lunch. Then, you will meet your own guide once more and head out on an afternoon game hunt for the big five. Maasai Mara’s undulating plains provide a stunning subject for photographs, especially in the low afternoon light.

Day 8: Full Day in Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

You will get up earlier than dawn both today and tomorrow, have a cup of tea or coffee, and then head out for an early morning game drive at dusk. The Mara is enchanting in the morning when the animals is just waking up to meet the day, the birds are chirping, and the fresh, chilly morning air smells wonderful. A pair of jackals saunters across the grass in quest of mice, baboons speak excitedly, zebras frolic and greet each other, and curious giraffes watch you as they chew on their breakfast of acacia leaves. You will head deeper into the Mara on a mid-morning wildlife drive with your driver/guide after returning to the camp for a lavish buffet breakfast. Remember to search for the “little five”: banded mongoose, African hare, vervet, Thompson’s gazelle, jackal, and monkeys. Watching these smaller creatures can be just as thrilling and enjoyable as seeing the more well-known larger species.

Day 9: Second Day in Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Afternoon and morning game drives round off a full day spent in Masai Mara. Every meal and night are spent at Mara Engai Lodge. You will return to your camp each day for lunch, and after unwinding at the pool for a while, you can spend some time on your tent’s balcony watching birds. You will go on afternoon game drives as the sun sets. A lion pride with playful cubs may be found playing in the shade of an acacia tree among the sleeping members of the pride. The broad plains are full of surprises. Additionally, keep an eye out for Ostrich families strolling across the plains. Come back to the camp every late afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Return to Nairobi – Departure.

You will check out of the lodge after breakfast and make your way to the airfield, from where you will board the 11:00 a.m. aircraft back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. You will be greeted upon arrival and taken to the 4-Points Sheraton Airport Hotel, where you will check into a dayroom in preparation for your night time transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta overseas Airport, which will take you to your overseas destination.
